Faith-Based Nurse Retreats

CODE YOU retreats are led by our two co-founders, both registered nurses and trained spiritual directors. Each retreat integrates contemplative practices — breath prayer, gratitude journaling, reflection, and time in nature — into a restorative experience built for nurses. While these retreats are rooted in a faith-based approach, they are open to nurses of every faith tradition, as well as to those with no particular faith identity.

What "faith-based" means at CODE YOU

CODE YOU is not affiliated with any denomination or church. All of our retreats take seriously the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Where many secular wellness programs treat nurses as bodies and minds alone, we treat nurses as whole people.

Most of our retreats are open, public gatherings that welcome nurses from every faith tradition and from none. What sets our faith-based retreats apart is that Phyllis and Tamara speak openly from their own tradition as Christians. All nurses are still welcome here, and participants are invited to share their own faith traditions as part of the experience.

Who leads the retreats

Retreats are led by CODE YOU's co-founders, who are registered nurses and trained Spiritual Directors.

Phyllis Morton — MSN, RN, SD. Trained as a Spiritual Director at Perkins School of Theology. Years of practice walking beside people as they seek God and process grief, illness, and vocation.

N. Tamara Ramirez — MASFSD, BSN, RN. Trained as a Spiritual Director at Perkins School of Theology, with a Master's in Spiritual Formation and Direction from Richmond Graduate University. A passion for walking alongside those navigating seasons of change.

CODE YOU also has a growing number of nurse leaders preparing to lead faith-based retreats as part of the CODE YOU team in 2027.

What a faith-based CODE YOU retreat includes

  • Space to develop a personal spiritual care plan

  • Shared meals and unhurried community

  • 6 CE contact hours documented

Open to nurses of all faith practices

Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, agnostic, "complicated" — you'll be welcome here. Spiritual direction as a practice predates any one tradition. We follow that practice in how we lead: no proselytizing, no tradition-specific liturgy, just structured care for the whole human.

Host a faith-based CODE YOU retreat for your team

Faith-based healthcare organizations, religious health systems, parish nurses, and chaplaincy departments often invite CODE YOU to lead retreats built for their team's tradition. We also welcome church groups and groups of friends who want to step away together. Whatever your group, tell us what you need and we'll build a retreat that fits.
